2025 Wayzgoose Poster
An Invitation to Bowl
For the 2025 Wayzgoose swap, I turned my poster into an invitation to the Saturday night bowling after-party. The year before, I had such a great time (and lost so badly) that I knew it deserved its own print — because what else do designers and printers do but turn our inside jokes into posters?
To experiment with new surface effects, I produced a limited run of 25 prints dusted with pearlescent powder on the bowling ball, giving it a glossy, epoxy-like shimmer reminiscent of classic bowling balls. True to form, the print became another multi-layer marathon through the press:
White — background with attempted wood-grain effect (not as planned, but no paper was wasted)
Black — first set of 1’s
Black — second set of 1’s
Black — third set of 1’s
Blue — bowling ball
Red — S, R, K in “STRIKE” and small text
Red — T, I, E in “STRIKE”
The end result is playful, over-inked, and celebratory — a print that nods both to the camaraderie of Wayzgoose and the small traditions (like bad bowling) that make the event unforgettable.

“Not an Ostrich"
For the 2024 Wayzgoose swap, I wanted the print to be goofy and a little absurd — so what’s sillier than labeling a goose “Not an Ostrich”? The poster features a digitally altered Library of Congress photo of the prizewinning Floradora Goosefrom the 41st Annual Poultry Show at Madison Square Garden (Miss Isla Bevan pictured, 1930s). I applied a halftone to the image, then manipulated an ink drawdown smear to obscure the woman’s eyes, giving the print an unexpected layer of texture and dimension.
Printed in four passes:
Black – photo and background
White – base layer under ink smear
Neon pink + neon green – ink blobs
Black – overprinted text and details
The poster was a quick turnaround — finished just in time to dry before trading at the swap — but it captures the playful, irreverent energy I wanted to bring to the event.
